The 2024 Federation University Road National Championships was off to a great start for the (Liv-AlUla-Jayco) team with Ruby Roseman-Gannon winning the Road Race National Championships at Mount Buninyong.

The 25 year old again took first in the criterium after riding alone for the last few laps managing to create a 14 second gap from the peloton where teammates Georgia Baker and Alexandra Manly finished second and third respectively.

Roseman-Gannon mentioned in an interview with AusCycling that in the initial 20 minutes of racing ‘[her] legs [were] actually hurting, like maybe [she’s] on a bad day’.

As the criterium played out, on the original Sturt Street hot dog course, Roseman-Gannon saw an opportunity for a break with Gina Ricardo (Team Bridgelane).

The 1.1 kilometer course consisted of two tight corners at either end, hence the ‘Hot Dog’ name with a gradual asset and decent making for a very fast course once the riders got up to speed.

Roseman-Gannon and Ricardo launched their offensive out of the peloton and managed to initially stay away. Together they worked on maintaining their speed and distance off the front.

As the laps ticked past Ricardo began to lose steam and was dropped by Roseman-Gannon leading into the remaining few laps. This was when Roseman-Gannon kicked it into gear giving it everything she had finishing with a huge 14 second lead over the next riders.

It was a bunch sprint for the remainder of the field, which saw Georgia Baker and Alexandra Many fill the remaining podium spots. It was an amazing start to the Australian Liv-AlUla-Jayco and Jayco AlUla teams leading into the Tour Down Under.
