Cycling 250kms in 10 hours
Written By Henry Yates
It started as a little poll of Instagram that I didn’t think people would pay much attention to. It was great to become one of my largest engagements since starting my Instagram account.
I allowed my followers to choose the distance of the ride and the location of the ride.
They chose 250kms and Kinglake.
With less than 100kms in the legs from the previous 2 weeks, I set out at 5 am heading straight for Kinglake to beat the traffic, cars and chaos. If you aren’t one to ride in the dark after a coffee I would highly recommend it. It’s a feeling of invincibility and the capacity to keep going because you can't see the ‘downhill’ ahead.
It’s rarely downhill ahead. Nevertheless, you get to play mind games with yourself and push a little bit harder than you can during daylight.
This ride was not only about fulfilling what my followers chose for me, but also seeing whether I still have the endurance from when I cycled across Australia in 2018.
It clearly turns out that I do, so now begins the training and I plan to bring you all along for the journey.
