The U23 Road Race National Championships for 2024 saw 107 riders make it to the start line of the 12 lap, 139 kilometer course around Mount Buninyong.
The race was off and riders were on the offensive from the first corner seeing the peloton stretch out on the first climb up Mount Buninyong. Despite Browning being hit by a car on a training ride the day before he was in good form.

It wasn’t until the halfway mark of the race that we started to see team tactics at play with clear BridgeLane and ARA Skip Capital attacks taking place.
This saw Greenwood (Team BridgeLane) attack solo out of the lead group with three laps to go combined with an attack by Browning through the Feed Zone creating a chase group of 10 riders. The gap was set at 42 seconds with and 2 laps to go.
The chase group worked together to halve the gap to 25 seconds on the bell lap with Browning leading down the straight and into the first corner.

Browning turned the corner and dropped the hammer up the climb through the Feed Zone and continued his attack up Mount Buninyong seeing his effort result in successfully bridging the gap to Greenwood with half a lap remaining.
As the final straight appeared, Browing again put the hammer down, out sprinting Greenwood to claim the U23 National Road Race Championship.
