Thunderbolts Adventure 2022 | What to expect

A NSW cycling event called the Thunderbolts Adventure run by gravel cycling community Graveleur, is a 230km gravel ride full of fun, through the remote wilderness of Barrington Tops in Northern NSW. In its 3rd year, Thunderbolts is becoming an iconic annual event throughout the gravel community.

In 2020, Melbourne Cycling Event photographer 6ft8 Photographer, shared a ride with K-lite, providing support and capturing outstanding photography throughout the 230km ride.

This cycling event is primarily for a group of like-minded gravel cyclists sharing stories, climbing mountains and creating awesome memories overlooking the mountain tops in New South Wales. Understand that as much as Thunderbolts is a great opportunity to meet people and ride hard, there is a degree of self-sufficiency to keep things interesting. An unmarked course with a few water stops means you need to carry enough food, water and supplies for each day.

I would say this added independence aspect to Thunderbolts is a huge hit, as it is like a bikepacking adventure with a whole bunch of amazing people that meet up for dinner and beers after a huge day riding to do it again the next day.
